Adrian Ţepeş, better known as Alucard, is the tritagonist of the 2017 Netflix animated dark fantasy series Castlevania and a major character in its 2023 sequel, Castlevania: Nocturne, both of which are based on the video game franchise of the same name. He is based on the character of the same name from the video game franchise.
He was voiced by James Callis in English and Shin-ichiro Miki in the Japanese dub, who voiced Kisuke Urahara in Bleach.

Description[]
The son of the legendary vampire lord Dracula and a human woman named Lisa, Alucard was a well-natured hybrid who sought to snuff out evil regardless of his heritage. To this end, he teamed up with the monster slayer Trevor Belmont and the mage Sypha Belnades in order to kill his own father, who was planning to eradicate humanity after Alucard's mother was wrongfully burned at the stake. His mission was a success, however his new friends continued with their travelling while Adrian was left behind in Dracula's Castle to mourn the loss of his family alone.
After a long period of solitude within his castle, Alucard found new purpose in defending the inhabitants of a nearby human village from Vampire and Night Creature attacks. To keep the villagers safe, Alucard had them take refuge in his castle upon which they were attacked by a particularly large group of Dracula's followers who sought to resurrect him. During the siege, Alucard reunited with his old friends Belmont and Belnades and halted the resurrection. In the aftermath, Alucard formed a new village around his castle and fell in love with the chief of the villagers.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Dhampir Physiology: The hybrid offspring of the human woman Lisa and the powerful Vampire Dracula, Alucard was born with many of the same physical advantages of his paternal lineage. As a part vampire, Alucard possessed multiple abilities that made him an apex predator potentially capable of hunting and devouring humans. Despite being only a partial vampire, he also bore the physical abnormalities of his father's race, including pale skin, pointed ears, and sharp fangs. Because his father was regarded as the most powerful vampire in the world, Alucard, despite being half-human, is stronger than most other pure-blooded vampires. Due to his maternal human blood, Alucard was completely immune to the key weakness of the vampire race, sunlight. He could stay exposed to the sun indefinitely without any negative consequences. Additionally, he lacked the innate need to consume human blood and could sustain himself on human food.
- Fangs: Alucard possesses a pair of elongated upper canines like all vampires, capable of piercing human flesh. Due to his hybrid physiology he has little use for them.
- Immortality: Like all vampires, Alucard is immortal and cannot die from old age or disease. Additionally, his immortality stops him from aging, as he is almost 340 years old by the time of Nocturne but remains in his mid-20s physically.
- Shapeshifting: Due to his vampiric lineage, Alucard was capable of manipulating his own physical form in certain ways. He could transform into a swift white wolf and have a pair of angel-like wings sprout from his back. He was also able to transform himself into a swarm of small flying vampire bats. During this process, his brain was presumably separated into a hive mind-like consciousness shared between each bat in the swarm.
- Superhuman Durability: Alucard is much more durable than even humans in peak physical condition, such as Trevor. He was easily capable of taking hits from his father Dracula without losing momentum, and was only slightly annoyed (and unfazed) when Trevor punched him in his genitals. However, his durability does have its limits, as Dracula permanently scarred him across his chest in their first battle.
- Superhuman Speed: Alucard has the ability to move at extremely fast speeds in short bursts, appearing to observers as a flashing red blur.
- Superhuman Strength: Alucard is stronger than humans and the majority of vampires despite his relatively slim physique. He has been shown to move heavy stones with little effort, make jumps that allow him to travel hundreds of feet, and is able to punch Dracula hard enough to cause him to react, whereas Trevor's didn't get as much as a flinch from Dracula.
